My Current Christian Reading List

One of my favorite things to do at the end of the day is to curl up with a good book. Paul Sweeney once said, "You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you lost a friend."
I couldn't agree more with that quote. I love the books that awaken new thoughts into your mind and leave you different than you were before you ever turned the first page.
So today I thought I would share with you guys the books that I have been loving these past few months.

1. Every Good Endeavor by Timothy Keller
Every Good Endeavor is not only a monthly favorite, but one of my favorite books of all time. It's definitely a staple in my book collection now because of how it spoke into my life in so many ways. In this book, Keller speaks about work - how it came to be, our view of it, and how to align our every day work and careers with God's work. As someone who has always struggled with choosing what to do with my life when it comes to a career, this book has definitely helped me with my confusion and equipped me for my future! I highly recommend this one for High School or College students that are preparing for or starting their careers!

2. One Thousand Gifts Devotional by Ann Voskamp
I randomly picked up this devotional at a used bookstore a few months back, and I have been so surprised at the impact it has made in my life. This devotional focuses on giving thanks and finding joy in all aspects of life. Ann writes her devotions in such a way that sounds so poetic and beautiful, it would leave me in tears almost every time I closed the book. She also adds a section in the back with 1000 empty spaces to write down things you are grateful for every day. By doing this, she hopes that you will develop a heart of thankfulness that will result in joy and intimacy with God!

4. Rescuing Ambition - Dave Harvey
In this book, Dave Harvey shares with us how to improve, produce, develop, and create for the glory of God and not for the glory of ourselves. This was such an eye opening book and really made me think about why I was doing the things I'm doing - for the glorifying of myself or for glorifying my God? This is a good book for someone who feels like they're in a rut and they want to get themselves back on track and back to creating a life that glorifies God.

What books have you been loving lately? I'm always up for a good read!

It Is Well With My Soul + Cozy Cardigan

Something I have realized lately is that one of the goals of the enemy is to make us feel unworthy and unloved. Some people will go to extreme measures and give their lives away to drugs and alcohol, while others just find ways to cope to give them a sense of worth and meaning - which only lasts for a short time and then goes away.
If you own an item that people tell you is worth very little - you’re likely to sell it cheap or even throw it away.
But the truth is - Christ paid the highest price that he could pay for YOU. That means you’re worth so much more than you’re giving yourself credit for. You are valued and loved beyond anything in this world. Don’t sell yourself out to the cheap call of the world, and remember this truth - “Behold what manner of love the father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the children of God.” (1 John 3:1) “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are Gods.” (1 Corinthians 6:2)

I’m so glad that God always comforts us with his truth which causes us to say “It is well with my soul.”

My Fave Fall OOTD

Hey ya'll! It's been a while since I posted, I have been super busy with my last few weeks of this semester of Cosmetology school. I hope all is well with you guys! What have you been up to this Fall?
I have been loving the weather and the leaves are currently in their prime time. A normal day here in Georgia is around 68-70 degrees, which calls for short sleeves during the day! This striped tee is a favorite of mine from Forever 21 , and this adorable skirt was kindly sent to me by The Main Street Exchange!

Small Steps Of Obedience

About a year ago, God took me through a very confusing season of life. I was presented with a lot of opportunities that sounded amazing in the moment, but after praying and seeking the Lord about it, I quickly realized that it wasn't in his plan. At times it made me feel extremely lost and confused, wondering how God could ever make good come out of the situation. There were times when I even wondered if he wanted the best for me. It seemed like everyone else was living their best life while I was waiting on the Lord's direction. Have you ever been there? But even through my heart ache and confusion, I chose to obey Him.
As I look back now, I realize that God was using that experience to prepare me for the life I am now living. If I would have chosen to listen to and obey myself instead of God, my life would now look completely different. I can now see that every small step of obedience that I chose to make was leading me closer to him and the plan that he had for my life.
One thing we have to remember is this - If God instructs us to do something, or not to do something, we must obey. Obedience in your life may be sending someone a note of encouragement, choosing to leave a toxic relationship, volunteering at church, dealing with an addiction, spending more time in the word, reaching out to an old friend, or leading someone to Christ.
No matter how big or small it may be - we must remember that those steps of obedience don't go unnoticed by God. He allows the smallest steps to lead us to the greatest reward in heaven. He honors us by giving us a life full of love, joy, hope, peace, progress, success, blessing. abundance, and prosperity.

"But Samuel replied: 'Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams."
1 Samuel 15:22
