Or 90's Nostalgic Christmas Party!

Thursday, December 27, 2018

It's a tradition in my house to have an annual ugly Christmas sweater party! This year I wanted to make it fun and different by making the theme 90's. We all dressed in our vintage clothing, ate a traditional Christmas meal, made old school home-made ornaments, and sat around the table surrounded by vintage decor. It was a great day to say the least. It took us back to simpler times and it was my favorite party to date.

THE DETAILS

DECOR:

For decor, I spent loads of time going through local thrift stores to find the best decor I could find. I think my favorite was the Christmas cups! We got 8 different designs but they all went together so perfectly. I feel like they brought the table set up together! I also found a bag of vintage ornaments for around $3.00 and we put those on our tree in the kitchen. We used old vintage serving trays, napkin holders, and a few pieces of decor found from thrift stores.
I also strung up some old photos of me and my fam from our past Christmas's! It was a fun and nostalgic touch.

FOOD:

There's nothing like a traditional Christmas dinner. There's also nothing like my momma's cooking! I always look forward to Christmas dinner with my fam every year.

Does you family have a Christmas tradition? I would love to hear more about it in the comments!

Leopard + Pink OOTD

If you have been following for a while now, you would know my obsession with leopard print. I have always thought it was SO cute and I am so happy it's trendy this season. I recently picked up this beanie and super cute pink sweater from Charlotte Russe and I love them! They are both so soft and warm, perfect for this time of the year.
I got both of these on sale and you can shop them by clicking here and here!

5 ways to stay warm and cozy this winter

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

The trees have lost their leaves and the weather has that cool crisp to it. That’s when you know it’s time to focus on staying warm because winter has finally arrived. I’m not sure if it’s the cool air, the Christmas season, or the busy last few months of the year, but whatever it is - I just feel the need to stay cozy and warm and I’ll do anything to make that happen. But, at the same time, I don’t want to spend a ton of money doing so. It’s easy to bump up the heat in your home, but this also bumps up the amount you are paying. Instead, find ways to stay cozy and warm, without having to shell out hundreds of dollars. Here are some of my best tips:

Fire
There is nothing like a hot, roaring fire to keep you warm and cozy during the cold winter months in Georgia. No matter if you have a gas or a wood burning fireplace, get the fire started and curl up with a book next to it. One thing I do recommend doing before you have your first fire of the year is getting your fireplace and chimney inspected. It’s very easy and not too costly to get a chimney sweep and a lot of the time, they will also clean your dryer lint trap, as well.

Curl up on the couch or in bed
Cozy up on the couch or in bed with lots of blankets, pillows, and a Christmas movie or a book. Adding flannel sheets, full down comforters, extra blankets (maybe even a heated blanket, or heated mattress pad), and lots of pillows will definitely keep you warm and cozy. Cuddling in bed or on the couch with lots of blankets does not sound like a bad way to spend a weekend, in my opinion!

Warm Beverages
The winter months were made for mugs full of hot chocolate and eggnog, but those drinks aren’t always the best for your health. You can only drink so much cocoa, no matter how cold you are, so you might want to think about some other healthy alternatives such as herbal tea, turmeric lattes, or even hot chai tea. It doesn’t just stop at warm beverages, though. There are so many warm food options like soups and stews that can help warm you up, as well.

Window Tinting
Adding 3M™ Low-E Window Films to your windows will help insulate your windows from the cold temperatures. UHS Window Tinting and Blinds says, “It’s like upgrading from single-pane to double-pane or from double-pane to triple-pane windows.” They will help reflect and disperse heat back into the room, reduce cold spots, improve comfort during cold winter months, and save on heating and cooling costs year-round. With more than 30 years of window tinting experience in Atlanta, UHS Window Tinting and Blinds is Atlanta’s premier window tinting and blinds specialist. They are a locally-owned and operated company that provides services that offer many benefits such as enhanced privacy, lower utility bills, a more controlled climate, and more. They aim to go above and beyond, ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction. In fact, their owner, Matt always challenges customers to go online and find one bad review (spoiler alerts: there is not one!). UHS Window Tinting and Blinds has an extensive history with window films and treatments, so if you are looking for the best of the best in Atlanta window tinting, they are the company for you.

The Spruce also writes about these two other window tips, in order to avoid cold air: “The old idea of switching out your drapery and curtains for the winter still makes sense today. Window panes, especially older ones, allow heat to be lost through the glass, making a cold room feel even colder. If you have drapes or curtains, purchase a thicker material for the winter months and be sure to close them at night.

Cold air can easily rush through leaks in windows and doors, instantly chilling a room. If your windows and doors have cracked seals, you can purchase new ones or hire a professional to replace them. For a quick and simple fix, you can place a heavy towel underneath doors (like the door that enters the cold garage) or use a poly weatherstrip.”

Layer Up
Winter weather can be unpredictable, especially in Georgia, making it a challenge to get dressed for those cold-weather days (or the cold weather days that end up to be 70 degrees in the afternoon in GA). So, how do you even go about dressing for the really cold mornings, but not so cold afternoons? There is a trick! Dress in layers so you're prepared for any temperature and occasion. Layering your clothes can also add dimension and it is a great opportunity to mix and match patterns, colors, and textures to achieve those Instagram-worthy looks.

Youtuber's I'm Watching This Month (Vlogmas)

Friday, December 7, 2018

I don't know about you, but I'm not the biggest TV lover. I can watch it to pass time but I am never fully interested. I'm more interested in seeing into someone's real life - and hearing about real events that are going on in the world! I don't really find that on TV, so I love YouTube.
December is my favorite month of the year when it comes to YouTube. Almost all of my favorite YouTubers do vlogmas - where they vlog every single day of December up until Christmas.
Here's a list of YouTuber's I will be watching this year! I recommend checking out their channels. Vlogmas always helps me get in the Christmas spirit and helps me get ideas for decor and gifts!

1. Zoe Sugg

2. Michelle Reed

3. LaVitaDiMeg

4. Kristen Shane

5.Danielle Marie Carolan

Who are you watching for vlogmas this year? I am always up to checking out new channels!

How To Make Extra Holiday Cash

Thursday, December 6, 2018

"It's the most wonderful time of the year."
Christmas is the happiest time of the year but it can also be the most expensive. I was talking with Matt recently about how much money we spent on gifts last year and it was UNREAL. Having a big family and a desire to buy them great gifts is a struggle, but it doesn't have to be.
Today I want to share some tips on how to make some extra cash for the Holidays. I have personally used all of these methods and they really work! This post is not sponsored.

1. SELLING ON POSHMARK
My biggest tip and the one I use most frequently is selling on Poshmark. Clean out your closet and sell your unwanted items! Poshmark takes a very small portion of your earnings but they provide you with a free shipping label. All you have to do is tape the label on and mail it at your local post office.
What to do if you don't have many clothes to sell? I personally like to go to thrift stores and search for name brand items to sell for a profit. I have made a lot of money that way! I plan on doing a more in depth post soon on how I make money on Poshmark. It's definitely a good way to bring in some extra cash to spend during the Holidays.

2. SELL HANDMADE PRODUCTS
Another good way to make some extra cash is to sell handmade products either locally or online. I personally hand make bath bombs and bath salts and sell them online on apps like Poshmark, Etsy, and Mercari. It's something I enjoy doing and make a small profit from.
Choose something you enjoy doing whether that be painting, baking, or making candles and bath products. There is an endless amount of things to pursue.

3. TAKE SURVEYS
Look into survey sites like MyPoints and and Zap Surveys. You take surveys to earn a small portion of money that adds up over time. It's definitely not a "get rich quick" opportunity by any means, but if you stay persistent you can earn a few extra bucks. It's nice to do these when you are trying to pass time.

4. USE SHOPPING APPS
I like using the app Dote when I'm Christmas shopping online. It gives you the highest discount on items and they usually offer free shipping when you spend a certain amount of money. They claim to be like an "online mall" and I would agree. There's a lot of stores to choose from and everything is super easy to navigate. So if you're shopping online and want to save some money, I recommend checking them out.

Drugstore Winter Makeup Favorites

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

I have always been a huge fan of drugstore makeup products. I find it hard to cash out so much money for high end products when I can find just what I need at the drugstore! Today I wanted to share with ya'll some of my favorites that I use on a daily basis. I swear by these products, especially if you have oily to combination skin like me!

Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer - I love this bronzer! It gives a warm glow without looking too orange, and it smells like the beach. It's a win win.
Wet N' Wild MegaGlo - This highlighter is perfect for everyday. If you want it to be a little more dramatic, just spray your brush with setting spray before applying!
Maybelline Master Fix Setting Powder - This powder is perfect for baking and makes my foundation last all day.
NYX Butter Gloss - This gloss is so natural and makes my lips super soft! It smells like cupcakes and it's a staple in my collection.
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer - Makes skin smooth and pores disappear!
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation - My favorite affordable foundation! It lasts all day, goes on smooth, and doesn't cake up. It's medium coverage. The only negative is the smell.
Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit Lipstick - Can you tell I like Wet N Wild? This lipstick formula is perfect! It's not as dry as most liquid lipsticks and it lasts hours with no touch ups. I'm wearing the color "berry recognize" in the photos above and below!

What's your favorite drugstore makeup product?

Trendy Dollar Tree Stocking Stuffers

Monday, December 3, 2018

There's no denying that the holidays are an expensive season, but stocking stuffers don't have to be. Ever since I was young, opening my stocking has been the most exciting part. My parents never stuffed it with expensive gifts, just small things that fit my personality and made me happy.
Today I wanted to share some cute and trendy items I found at the Dollar Tree that would make perfect stocking stuffers. I made two stockings - one for men and one for women. I definitely feel like there was a lot more to choose from for women - but that happens everywhere in my opinion. Men have always been harder to shop for!

The first thing I picked up were obviously, stockings!
These red ones were really cute but they had a few others to choose from. I was surprised at the quality of these. They were actually pretty nice.

I hope you found this post helpful!  I tried my best to link everything above!

My Top 3 Podcasts of 2018

Sunday, December 2, 2018

One of my goals for 2018 was to listen to more podcasts. I find them to be so relaxing and fun to listen to while doing things like cleaning, driving, and working out. They definitely make time go by faster, and they leave me feeling inspired and knowledgeable. Today I wanted to share with ya'll the podcasts I have loved this year and I hope you love them too!

I heard so many things about The Porch from other Christian friends and decided to finally give it  try. I love it because they tackle real life issues and give biblical wisdom on how to deal with them. All you have to do is download the app and scroll through the many sermon series they have to offer. I recently just finished the series called "The Remnant" and I highly recommend!

Another favorite of mine is the "Gals on the Go" podcast with Danielle Carolan and Brooke Miccio. Danielle and Brooke are two Youtuber's/influencers that attend the University of Georgia. They give a ton of advice on college, healthy living, productivity, lifestyle, and more. Listening to them always puts me in a better mood and makes me feel inspired to work and get creative.
I recommend this one for college girls looking for inspiration!

My favorite podcast at the moment is the Proverbs 31 Ministries Podcast. The ladies in this ministry talk about things to help women of every age and it's all around just an enjoyable podcast. Lysa Terkeurst has a way of making everything sound so interesting and her story is so inspiring. It feels like a conversation with friends that will leave you feeling like you learned valuable wisdom to carry with you throughout your day. I have already listened to every episode and I always look forward to a new one!

What's your favorite podcast? I'm always looking for new ones to listen to!
