Southern Belle OOTD+ 7 Things

Sunday, April 7, 2019
The changing of seasons from Winter to Spring has always been my favorite time of the year. There's just something about warm sunlight after a long, cold Winter that brings out the happiest moods and the most hopeful feelings.
I also wanted to share 7 things that I have been inspired by lately. I feel like God has been teaching me a lot over the past few months and I wanted to share some of my thoughts.

In case you haven't heard, I recently launched my own online boutique! All the pieces I'm wearing can be purchased through the links below. I would LOVE for you to check them out and tell me what you think!

1. I think it's important that we are creating more than we are consuming. In today's society, it's so easy to consume information 24/7 on our phones, TV, the internet, social media, etc. I am learning how important it is to just sit and be still. To sit in God's presence, the presence of friends and family, and to be fully aware of your surroundings. To put my phone down and to live REAL life. To be creative in things like painting, reading, writing, music.
2. It's easy to feel bitterness towards people when you feel as if they have wronged you. Or maybe you just hold a grudge against them because of something that happened in the past. Instead of thinking badly of them and letting that consume you, I have learned how important it is to look at them through God's eyes. Realize that they are also God's child and he cares about them just as much as he cares about you. That thought process has helped me overcome arrogance and entitlement, and helped me to see others in a different light.
3. "The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional!" -Proverbs 31 podcast
4. Working out is not only beneficial for your body but for your soul.
5. Cooking more at home has improved my health so much! It's crazy the difference I have seen in my body, skin, and mood just from cutting back on fast food.
6. This has been such a busy season of life with going to school full time and starting up businesses, but I am beyond thankful for the opportunities God has placed in my life.
7. "God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing." - C.S. Lewis

2018 for me was a year of preparation. At times it felt long and hard, but I know everything I went through was preparing me for my future. Throughout the year, I was in a completely different mind space. I was hopeful for my future but very confused about it at the same time. I had all these ideas in my head for starting a business and making a difference, but I had no idea how I would be able to pull it off. I even tried pursuing other careers , like Cosmetology, because I wasn't confident enough in myself to pursue what I knew in my heart I needed to do. I loved Cosmetology school but deep down I always knew it wasn't for me. I still don't have everything figured out; but I have learned that in order to live a fulfilled life, we must do what we were created to do. Everyone is created so uniquely with different talents, visions, and abilities. It's up to us to use those things for God's glory. I said all of that to say this: if you're going through a weird stage of life where you don't know which path to pursue, go down the path where passion and purpose lives. Choose your passion and work HARD for it every single day until you succeed. I'm thankful God has brought me further than I ever thought I would be, and has presented me with so many opportunities I only dreamed of having. I'm so happy to finally be working on something I have been passionate about for so long.
With that being said,

I'm SO excited to finally tell everyone about the upcoming launch of my new online clothing store, Rosie Meadow! Rosie Meadow has been an idea of mine since I was about 17 and it has been so fun, challenging, and rewarding to finally see my dream come to life. I would love for you to head over to Rosie Meadows Instagram page to follow and be on the lookout for giveaways, announcements, and the website launch on tomorrow, April 5th!

Understanding Mutual Funds

Understanding Mutual Funds

Hailed as an efficient way for individual investors to access the market, mutual funds, like other useful investment tools, have become increasingly popular. Since 1969, assets in mutual funds have grown from $48 billion to nearly $8.6 trillion. In just the last 10 years, mutual fund assets have nearly tripled. And today, nearly half of all U.S. households own mutual funds, compared with less than 6 percent in 1980 [Investment Company Institute (ICI),].
So, what is a mutual fund? At its most basic level, a mutual fund is a portfolio of securities owned by a collection of shareholders. While mutual funds have many different investment strategies, they primarily come in three basic types. Equity funds invest primarily in stocks; fixed-income funds invest in government or corporate securities offering fixed rates of return; and balanced funds invest in a combination of equity and fixed-income securities.
According to the ICI, the trade organization representing the mutual fund industry, there are now approximately 8,300 U.S.-based mutual funds. With all the choice available to U.S. investors it’s important for individuals to know about this popular investment vehicle.

My Hair Care Routine + Giveaway

Tuesday, February 19, 2019
I have put my hair through a lot - from bleaching, blow drying, and trying out every color in the book. It's important for me to treat my hair right in order to keep it healthy and looking great. Today I wanted to share my hair care routine including my tips and products that I have found to be the most helpful. Stay tuned until the end to find out how to enter a fun giveaway!

It's important to start off with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I like using natural shampoo and conditioner to keep my hair safe from the chemicals that can be found in your average dugstore products. I have been using Formulate lately and I have seen a huge difference in the quality of my hair. Formulate allows you to take a hair quiz all about your personal hair needs, and they send you your very own personalized shampoo and conditioner. My hair feels so much healthier, softer, and I'm even convinced that it grew a little quicker than normal!

4 Things Everyone Should Learn

There are quintessential skills that everyone should know, no matter who you are, or what situations you are normally in. Every parent should teach their children not only basic life skills, but also survival, wilderness skills, as well as other skills that will help them perform well in everyday life with friends, at work, and at home. I could go on and on with 100+ skills (or things that people should learn) because there really are so many things that every single person should know, but I want to highlight a few very important skill sets that you should have to function in everyday life and maybe save yourself or someone else, as well.
Not all of these are for life or death situations. I truly believe that to live a full happy life, you need to be able to succeed in all aspects. So, this means that you have to learn not only basic life and survival skills, but social skills, as well. Today, I want to highlight a few of these ‘skills’ that everyone needs to learn.

How To Be Productive While Working From Home

Monday, January 28, 2019
Working from home can be very challenging. You are obviously in your own home and there are so many other things that you can do such as laundry, playing with your pets, or eating non-stop (ha!). Ignoring all of these distractions can be very challenging, but it is possible - you just have to create a in-depth plan on how to be productive. If you are not sure where to start when it comes to this, I’ve got you! Keep reading to find out how to be productive while working from home - I promise that it is possible!
Have a plan
The first step is to have a plan and to take that plan to help you list out your priorities. Know what you need to get done that week (or month) and create a game plan. List out all due dates and shoot to have them completed a week before the due date. That way, you are not rushing around at the last minute to have everything wrapped up. Each week, I recommend down your must-do’s, your hope-to-do’s, and your appointments. Schedule in your must-do’s when you are the most productive and then your hope-to-do’s at your second most productive point in your day(s)/week. This way, each day you do not have to waste time figuring out what you need to do because it is all laid out for you. This allows you to jump into your work first thing in the morning, which will allow you to get more work done.

Becoming Your Best Self in 2019

I know I have said this a few times now, but honestly - how is 2019 already here and how is January almost finished already? Time really is flying by in the blink of an eye, but I’m not complaining because that means I’m having fun with it. I will admit though - 2018 was not *the* best year that it could have been. A lot of the time, we set out intentions and goals and by March, we forget about them. This was a bit how my past years have been - I haven’t really stuck to any long-term resolutions because I have always shot way out of reach.
What I mean by that is that in the past, I have not set the easiest goals. For example, if you set a goal to lose 30 pounds by February, you will most likely fail. If you set a goal to work out every single day in 2019, although you have good intentions, you will probably end up failing. The way to set goals that are achievable is to set attainable goals.
That’s why this year, I want to create my best self. I’m not setting anything in stone, as long as everything I do helps me reach my goal of becoming my best self in 2019. Easy enough, don’t you think? Here are a few ways that I am becoming my best self this year:
Like I mentioned, I am not setting any goals that are unreachable for me, so I do not really have a set number of times per week that I need to work out. All I know is that I want to start making exercise even more of a priority in my life. I want to not only start working out more, but I also want to find what I love the most. There are so many programs out there and I truly believe that there is something for everyone, no matter how much you love or dislike working out. From hot yoga to pilates, weight lifting, HIIT training, and cardio, there is so much to explore and I am in it for the long run this year!

Breaking Past Fears in 2019

Monday, January 14, 2019

Fear is a natural part of growth and development and sometimes, fear is necessary because it prevents us from doing things that are indeed, not too smart. But, most of the time, fear only holds us back from potential opportunities that appear in our daily lives.

Fear is different for everyone - maybe it is not being good enough, fear of trying something new, not knowing what to expect, or even fear of being rejected. No matter what it is, I understand that it can be very scary to break fast your fears, but if you do break fast them, you will start to see with a new set of eyes.

Sure, you are not perfect, but is anyone perfect? There are times when you will definitely mess up, but those are just learning experiences and they will only make you better. The worst thing that you can do for yourself is to allow fear to rule your life. Do not let fear get in the way of accomplishing your goals and dreams.

I spoke with a friend the other day who actually told me the story of her overcoming her fears. She broke past her fears, put herself out there in the world, and you know what happened? She succeeded (most of the time). She learned new things, she became more confident, and she now feels like she is capable of anything. I want this for all of you because when it comes down to it, you are capable of anything, as long as you put your mind to it.

So, how do we start with breaking past fears in 2019? Here are a few tips:

Cute Workout Wear For The New Year

Thursday, January 3, 2019

I think we can all relate when we say that our new year resolution is to get in shape. I say it every year - and I hope that I actually stick with it this time! I don't know about you, but cute workout wear always makes me 100 times more likely to hit the gym! These leggings from K. Ellis Boutique are so cute. They are high waisted - which I love - because it makes me feel like everything is supported and sucked in. The color and pattern is adorable and would look great with a solid top and a pop of color in your running shoe.

Decluttering For The New Year

2019 is here and I am ready for a fresh, clean slate. To me, this starts with my home, the space that I spend the bulk majority of my time throughout the entire year. If I had to guess, I am sure that you have things piling up around your house. Maybe you got a bunch of Christmas presents that you didn’t want or need, or maybe you have way too many clothes now that you got some for Christmas (or just throughout the year). No matter why your house is full, it’s time to focus on decluttering it.

Starting the New Year off with a decluttered home is the best feeling in the world, but if you don’t know where to start, it can be very challenging and frustrating. A lot of people start decluttering and then quit halfway through because they just cannot figure out what to do with their items. If that sounds like you, keep reading along because I’m here to help you start and finish your decluttering session! Here we go:
